Pretzel Films Ltd is committed to protecting employees, contractors and visitors from health and safety risks associated with our activities. We aim to maintain safe working practices across our office, remote working and on-location production environments.

Who This Applies To

This policy applies to:

  • All employees of Pretzel Films Ltd
  • Contractors and freelancers engaged by Pretzel Films Ltd
  • Visitors to any Pretzel Films office or controlled working environment
  • Authorised remote working locations used for business activities

As part of our supplier and contractor engagement, Pretzel Films Ltd expects suppliers and partners to maintain appropriate health and safety standards relevant to the services they provide.

Our Aim

Our aim is to create a proactive safety and wellbeing culture. We recognise that occupational injuries and work-related ill health are foreseeable and preventable, and we expect everyone involved in our work to act in a manner that supports this goal.

Responsibility and Accountability

Co-Chairs

Overall accountability for health and safety, ensuring suitable resources and governance are in place.

Head of Production

Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is implemented for productions, including on-location activity.

Most Senior Person on Site

Accountable for health and safety at that location, including contractors and visitors, regardless of reporting line.

All Staff and Contractors

Responsible for following instructions, using equipment safely, and reporting hazards, incidents and near misses.

How to Report a Breach

Any breach of this policy, or any unsafe condition or behaviour, must be reported promptly to a Co-Chair or the Head of Production.

All employees, contractors and visitors are encouraged to challenge risk-taking behaviour and to report concerns without delay.

Data Privacy

All documentation and records generated through health and safety processes, including incident and accident records, are created and stored securely in accordance with Pretzel Films Ltd’s GDPR policy and information security controls.

Ten Key Things to Remember

  • Complete any required health and safety training relevant to your role.
  • Understand hazards and health risks associated with your work and the work of colleagues.
  • Know what to do in an emergency at your place of work or location.
  • Follow any posted safety instructions and location-specific procedures.
  • Raise concerns about unsafe behaviours or conditions and respond positively to concerns raised by others.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards promptly.
  • Record any work-related absence due to illness or injury in line with company processes.
  • Ensure suppliers, partners and visitors understand and follow required safety standards when engaged.
  • Follow the health and safety requirements for any location where work is carried out.
  • Seek guidance before undertaking any activity you believe may be unsafe or non-compliant, and encourage others to do the same.

General Policy Statement

Pretzel Films Ltd’s general policy is to prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health by identifying hazards, assessing risk and implementing appropriate controls.

Risk assessments are completed where appropriate, and actions are implemented to reduce risks to an acceptable level. Pretzel Films Ltd commits to engaging with staff and contractors on day-to-day health and safety conditions and expected standards.

Instructions and Information

Health and safety instructions and information are made available through:

  • Company health and safety guidance documents (including on-location guidance)
  • New joiner onboarding information
  • Location-specific briefings for production work
  • Emergency and evacuation instructions applicable to the working location

On Location and Remote Working

For work conducted away from a Pretzel Films office, including filming locations and remote working environments, suitable arrangements will be put in place to manage health and safety risks.

This includes assessing location risks, ensuring appropriate supervision, and communicating emergency procedures to all relevant personnel.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of a significant incident (including fire), all staff and visitors must follow the local evacuation procedures for the site.

For production locations, the Head of Production (or delegated responsible person) will ensure that emergency arrangements are communicated at the start of the day and that escape routes and assembly points are clearly identified.

Maintaining Safe and Healthy Working Conditions

Pretzel Films Ltd aims to maintain safe and healthy working conditions by:

  • Ensuring working environments are suitable and safe
  • Maintaining equipment in good working order
  • Promptly addressing defects, hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Ensuring reasonable access to welfare facilities where relevant to the location
  • Maintaining appropriate first-aid arrangements proportionate to the activity

Review

This policy is reviewed annually or when circumstances change, including significant changes to working practices, locations, equipment or applicable legal requirements.
